A Commitment to Polish Heritage.

The Maria Konopnicka School of Polish Language in the Hudson Valley is dedicated to teaching children about their Polish roots, language, and heritage to instill a strong cultural identity and ensure the continuity of traditions for the next generation. The curriculum goes beyond language classes, incorporating lessons on Polish history, geography, and literature, alongside cultural events like folk dance and community engagement. By fostering a deep appreciation for the Polish language and heritage, the school empowers students to connect with their ancestry and become knowledgeable children of Poland.

Polish Heritage Education

Our comprehensive Polish Heritage Education program is dedicated to cultural preservation, striving to instill a profound sense of Polish identity in students by systematically teaching the Polish language, history, and customs, thereby ensuring the continuity of traditions and fostering students.

Literary Heritage

The program’s mission is to solidify a Polish American child’s sense of self by connecting them with the Polish community and ancestral traditions. This foundation ensures they can confidently navigate a multicultural world (like the US) while deeply understanding their unique heritage. Instruction covers pivotal Polish history and struggles for independence, offering the essential context for them to fully embrace their Polish national identity abroad.

Language Preservation

The primary goal is to ensure the Polish language does not fade within families, enabling children to communicate with relatives and access rich Polish literature and media. Fluency acts as a crucial link to the homeland. By preserving language skills, the program provides a direct, living connection to Poland’s culture, history, and current life.

Community Building

The school creates a supportive, shared environment where Polish-American families can connect, network, and celebrate their heritage together. This network offers children friendships and mentors who share their cultural experience. Through these communal activities, the school actively combats the cultural isolation often felt in the US, reinforcing a collective Polish identity for the next generation.
